16 March 2012 Reporting Crime incidents to local SAPS

After a long meeting with Ocean View SAPS on 15/03/2012, the matter with respect to the reporting of crime to the SAPS was raised. We mentioned that the community in Kommetjie do not want to report small criminal incidents to the SAPS due to past poor service delivery being experienced and a waste of the complainants time. We were assured that this matter will be addressed.

We urge everybody to please report crime, no matter how trivial, to the SAPS. Insist on an Occurance Book(OB No) Number, the name of the officer you are dealing with, the date and the  time you are reporting the incident. These stats gets forwarded to the Provincial Commissionar of Police. From there it can be determined if the crime in the area is high and whether more man power and equipment is required to deal with crime in that Police Station`s Precint.

Please remember that crime is crime no matter how trivial.
