After a long meeting with Ocean View SAPS on 15/03/2012, the matter with respect to the reporting of crime to the SAPS was raised. We mentioned that the community in Kommetjie do not want to report small criminal incidents to the SAPS due to past poor service delivery being experienced and a waste of the complainants time. We were assured that this matter will be addressed.
We urge everybody to please report crime, no matter how trivial, to the SAPS. Insist on an Occurance Book(OB No) Number, the name of the officer you are dealing with, the date and the time you are reporting the incident. These stats gets forwarded to the Provincial Commissionar of Police. From there it can be determined if the crime in the area is high and whether more man power and equipment is required to deal with crime in that Police Station`s Precint.
Please remember that crime is crime no matter how trivial.

Garage Break in's
This is an urgent Notice to all in our area:
There has been 6 reports in the last 7 days of garage doors being forced open and power tools etc being stolen.
2 breakins in Misty Cliffs, 2 breakins in Murdoch Valley South and 2 breakins in Kommetjie.
The modus operandi were the same for all 6 incidences.
The criminals have forced open the garages and taken belongings that are easy to pawn or sell quickly on the side of the road.
If you are unfortunate to be a victim of this type of robbery take the time to check out second hand shops in your area as these crooks often try to sell them off and are convincing the shop owners that they own the goods.
PLEASE ensure your Garage and store rooms are securley locked, and even add security such as an alarm passive in there.
